Prof. Hassan Abol-Enein is professor of urology at the Urology & Nephrology Center in Mansoura (Egypt). He graduated in Urology in Mansoura and became lecturer in Urology in 1992. From 1995 to 1996 he worked as associate professor and operative tutor at the department of Urology in Mainz. In 2001 he received a ph. D. in Urology from the University of Nijmegen. In 2003 he became associate professor of Urology in Mansoura and from 2002 until 2012 he was director of the same institution. He was visiting professor in Detroit (Vattikuti Urology Institute), University of Aachen and in many Indian institutes.

He developed several original surgical techniques concerning urinary diversion. His serous lined extramural ileal valve is a worldwide used technique of continent urinary outlet. Furthermore he introduced new methods for construction of orthotopic ileal neobladders with anti-refuxive ureteral reimplantation and replacement of the ureter. Additionally he conducted research on techniques of cystectomy and prognostic markers for the oncological outcome after cystectomy.

He is a member of several international scientific organizations as the American Urological Association (AUA) and the American College of Surgeons. He is reviewer for all major urological and uro-oncological journals. He became honored member of the American Urological Association in 2010 and won a number of awards for his outstanding contribution to urology.

Prof. Abol-Enein contributed to over 100 highly ranked publications most of them concerning the above mentioned surgical techniques for urinary diversion and reconstruction and reimplantation of the ureter.
