Qayed has obtained his M.B., B.Ch. from Cairo University as well as Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Dermatology & Venereology from the same University. He also has a Diploma of Dermatology (Dip. Derm.) from London University and has also completed a Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) in Dermatology from Cairo University.

Qayed started the clinical career by working for the Ministry of Health as Junior Specialist in the Department of Dermatology & Venereology in Kuwait Hospital, Sharjah, UAE.

In March 1980, he joined UAE University as a Teaching Assistant.

Between August 1987 and August 1992, Dr. Qayed was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, under the faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAE University. During the same period, he had a part-time clinical post as a Senior Specialist in the Department of Dermatology at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain, UAE.

In 1992, Dr. Qayed worked with the Ministry of Health at Baraha Hospital, Dubai, UAE for 10 years. Out of which, he served the first three years as the Director of the Hospital and later on continued with the Ministry as Consultant and Head of Dermatology Department for the remaining duration.

From 2002 to 2007, Dr. Qayed was the Consultant and Head of Dermatology Department in Rashid Hospital, Dubai, UAE.

From January 2007 to February 2009, he was elected as Secretary General of the Arab Board of Medical Specializations and served at the Board’s headquarters.

Qayed was appointed from February till August 2009 as the Director of the Continuing Department at the DHA and Postgraduate Dean. As of August 2009, he undertook the tasks and responsibilities of the Director of the Medical Education Department at Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

Currently, Dr. Khalil Qayed is the Advisor to the Training and Development Center of the Ministry of Health, UAE.
