Mr. Simon John Borg is Maltese, qualified as a State Registered Nurse in 1988 and commenced Theatre Nursing same year. Initially, apart from Endo-Urology and Lithotripsy, he trained also in Minimal Invasive Surgery (Laparoscopic) as soon as the technology became more available and wide spread.

In 1998 Dr. Borg joined a private multi-competence team to setup and commission a private multi-specialized hospitals run by AX Group. Same year he joined Capua Palace Hospital’s senior manager’s team responsible for running of five Theatres and CSSD. By 2002, returned to the Maltese NHS at St. Luke’s Hospital, specializing in Urology Theatre Nursing and contributing towards services migration planning to the new state of the art, Mater Dei Hospital (MDH).

Apart from Urology Nursing, between 2006 to 2010, took up also briefly the responsibility of Occupational Health & Safety as an MUMN Official and board member in the Federation of Occupational Health Nurses within European Union, FOHNEU.

Officially recognised as the first Maltese Urology Surgery Theatre Nurse (denomination subsequently changed to Practice Nurse) by the Maltese Government in 2011. Also same year joined the European Association of Urology Nurses (EAUN) and in 2013 till date, started contributing as board member in the mentioned organisation.

Current responsibilities as Nurse Specialist capacity at MDH are assisting as first assistant, staff training co-ordination, logistics management required for Urology surgery, budgeting, hardware-consumable acquisitions and emerging technology scout.

Apart from Urology Theatre Nursing, he is also a keen aviator and private recreational pilot, contributing with Maltese aviation NGOs on aspects of human performance in Aviation.
